LRRM is an abbreviation for “Leerraum” which is the German word for void. It was founded in 2007 by Kai Reinhardt as an umbrella brand for his work, projects and research in the fields of design and science.

There are several definitions for “Leerraum” in the context of design and communcation, too many to mention all of them. Briefly said, “Leerraum” is a defined space marked as nothing and therefore acts as enabler of something. It’s the counterpart needed to perceive something. It helps us to differentiate something from nothing.

Many artists and designers are interested in this philosophical approach. Since 2007 LRRM has become a tight knit network of interesting designers, coders, artists and agencies.
